Custom Lens Housing Service

This service provides a new, fully machined aluminum housing for your vintage lens.

Please note: This is not a full internal rehousing. The original factory focusing mechanics remain inside. This is an external upgrade — new body, original internals.

All-metal construction
Machined from aviation-grade aluminum. Light, rigid, and finished with anodizing. Custom color options available for individual components.

Fixed mount conversion
The rear of the lens is modified to accept a professional mount secured with screws. This replaces the M42 adapter approach and provides a clean, integrated appearance.

Full servicing included
Each lens receives complete technical maintenance alongside the new housing:

  • Mechanisms cleaned and re-lubricated

  • Glass and aperture blades cleaned (dust and oil residue removed)

  • Aperture click stops removed (de-clicked)

  • Infinity focus calibrated

Compatibility

Currently, this service is available for lenses with a specific mechanical layout:

  • Focus ring positioned away from the camera

  • Aperture ring positioned closer to the camera

Compatible examples: Helios 44M, Zenitar, Pentacon, and similar.

Work is in progress to expand compatibility. Lenses currently being tested: Mir-1, Jupiter-9, Tair-11.

Mounts

EF and Sony-E mounts are available for all compatible lenses.

PL mount is available only for certain lenses. Because this rehousing retains the original internal mechanics, some lens designs do not allow sufficient space for PL mount installation. Please inquire before ordering.

Customization

You can modify the design of your rehousing:

  • Component color

  • Marking color

  • Custom engravings

You may choose a design from my previous work or send a reference photo.

How to Order

This service is primarily intended for customer-supplied lenses. Some popular lenses may be available as donors — please inquire.

Process:

  1. Contact me to discuss your lens and requirements.

  2. After confirming details, I will provide the shipping address.

  3. You may send your own lens, or purchase a lens online and have the seller ship it directly to me.

If you purchase a lens online and have it sent to me:
I will inspect the lens upon arrival and provide a photo/video report. If the lens does not match the description, I will arrange a return to the seller on your behalf.
